Rhinebeck 2011

Rhinebeck. The mention of it makes me smile and dream. The plethora of fiber, animals, food, good friends, and relaxation is amazing. These little ones, I believe are Jacob, were just waiting to be petted. I wanted to bring one home, but I don't think the hardwood floors would take it too well. lol

Covet?

Can I covet, the Namaste bags without breaking a commandment? Seems all the bags they come out with is nicer than the next. I have a purple one that my friend, Jan gave me. It's great for projects as well as a regular purse.

Summer lace

Summer, warm hazy nights, fireflys glowing intermittently over the yard. Lace is the choice for these summer days.

This is an easy lace poncho knit in silky soft Sublime Bamboo & Pearls. It is perfect over a cami or bathing suit.

Men Who Knit

This gentleman knit a sweater for his first child. His grandmother would make him knit a few rows when he misbehaved. Thankfully, he didn't grow to hate it.

His wife and child are very lucky to have him.

Angora mittens, soo soft, so feminine, so warm. I designed these for a class and fell in love with them. I can picture them embellished with beads, or ribbon, or little miniature knitted flowers.

Fleece to Shawl

Also at Mapaca was a Fleece to Shawl Competition. Similar to a Sheep to Shawl, this one used Alpaca fiber, hence the Fleece to Shawl.

There were four teams; this one placed first.

The third shawl has pleasant spring colors and was done by a youth group. What a wonderful job they did!

MAAPCA

Last week, we travelled to Harrisburg, PA to attend Mapaca. What is Mapaca you ask? It is the Mid Atlantic Alpaca Association and each year they have a show to promote North American Alpacas and their fiber.

There were vendors, fiber demonstrations, dinner, fashion show, raffles and judging.

Yes, it's been a very long time since I blogged. This past year has been full of challenges, divorce, financial difficulties, ill parent. I am slowly surfacing again and can see the surface.

Knitting has been going on full scale, helps me keep the sanity. I'm currently designing a pair of fingerless mitts for the local yarn shop, The Gentle Arts. The mitts are angora (heavenly soft) and knit flat. The class will be called Fingerless Mitts for Mom or Prom; how cute, the shop owner came up with that.

This is a lacey scarf out of a Kreamer yarn. The photo doesn't do the yarn justice, it has little real silver fibers and sparkles.
